HEC logo, HEC Self Finance schemeRecently HEC has announced the Self Finance Scheme for Dual Nationals / Overseas. Higher Education Commission (HEC) Self-Finance Scheme aims to assist foreign students and dual-nationality holders with educational aspirations in Pakistan. Originally it was the project of Economic Affairs Division, but in 2006 it was transferred to Higher Education Commission. The Self Finance Scheme with a limited number of seats in the disciplines of Engineering, Medicine (MBBS), Dentistry (BDS) and Pharm D envisages to facilitate both foreign as well as Pakistan origin dual nationality holder students, for their admission in Public Sector Universities / Institutions of Pakistan.


Eligibility Criteria

  1. Candidate must hold a foreign nationality at the time of application and admission process.
  2. The applicant must have a valid TOEFL score of 500 or IELTS score of 5.5. However, language proficiency test results need not be submitted for students whose medium of instruction at the higher secondary level was English.

MBBS / BDS
  • Candidate must have passed HSSC (Pre-Medical) or equivalent with a minimum of 70% marks.
  • Candidate must have either
a. Passed the entrance test of the Province / Region (Minimum 60% marks) OR
b. Scored a minimum of 550 each on SAT II i) Chemistry ii) Biology, and iii) either Physics or Mathematics I or II tests OR Foreign MCAT with minimum score of 500.
  • Must have obtain a minimum aggregate of 70% for MBBS and 60% for BDS.

Pharm.D
  • Candidates must have passed HSSC (Pre-Medical) or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks.

Engineering
  • Candidates must have passed HSSC (Pre-Engineering) or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks.

Note: Candidate must have physically studied HSSC or equivalent outside Pakistan.

Merit Criteria

Merit will be determined as per following formula:

MBBS / BDS
HSSC / equivalent -- 50% weightage
Entry Test / SAT-II -- 50% weightage

Pharm.D and Engineering
HSSC / equivalent -- 100% weightage
